Should I keep My Vehicle Or Trade It In?

Tire Remove

I can remember 15 or so years ago giving a customer an estimate on their vehicle was for brakes and tires for about $800.  The customer told me thanks but I think I will just trade my car in.  The surprising thing was the vehicle was 3 years old and had 49,000 miles.   Back then, his replacement car was around $18,000.

Maybe, I was not the best salesman back then, but I still to this day do not believe in high pressure sales, just educate the customer on the facts and let them make their decision.

Times have changed quite a bit since then with the average price of a new vehicle averaging around $30,000 and the average age of a car on the road is 10 years.  Vehicles, now a days last for 250,000 miles easily, if maintained from the beginning of its life.

So the question is?  Do I keep the family vehicle now that I have no monthly car payment anymore?

First of all, you need to ask yourself a few questions!

1.         Have I kept up on all the vehicle maintenance?

2.        What is the overall condition of my vehicle?

Call us for a no obligation vehicle inspection and maintenance schedule check!

Even if it means you need to put $1,000 to $1,500 into the vehicle, you are way ahead of the game once the vehicle is paid for!

Compared to the $5,000 to $8,000 a year in car payments you have been paying!

So, if planning to keep the vehicle then I recommend the following!

#1 -Buy a $56 AAA membership and budget for the little things that may come up.  Tires, Brakes, Cooling System Service, etc.

#2 – Start being pro-active with your vehicle maintenance!  This definitely will prolong the life of the vehicle!

And of course I want you to keep your car! And do all the services on it with me….but I don’t want to be giving you bad news every time I see you, which why I recommend the no obligation vehicle inspection before you decide.

There is definitely an upside of keeping your car and doing regular maintenance and getting to know your mechanic pretty well.  And by the way, the next time you’re at our location, ask to talk with Mike and I will be happy to take a few minutes to discuss your car.

Oh Yeah, Remember the free monthly tire pressure and fluid checks!  Help us Help You!
